Luis Alberto Perez Gonzalez:Report: Man United have 'remarkable' Nike-endorsed star on their wanted list
Manchester United’s reported transfer target, Goncalo Ramos, could be set to leave Benfica during the upcoming summer window.
The Manchester club have been linked with the 21-year-old previously but could now see the door to land his signature opened at the end of the season.
According to a recent report from A Bola (via Sport Witness), Ramos’ efforts for Benfica this season have caught the attention of other clubs looking to sign the striker, leaving the publication to call a potential summer exit inevitable.
The report also mentions that United have the centre-forward, who has a release clause in his contract with €120m (£106m), on their wanted list for the summer, as do Paris Saint-Germain.
Having worked his way through the youth ranks at Benfica, the striker has made 92 senior appearances for the Portuguese club across all competitions, scoring 35 goals and delivering 12 assists along the way.
This season has seen Ramos, who has been hailed as ‘remarkable’, score 15 goals in 19 league appearances, as well as racking up more shots at goal (67) and shots on target (30) than any other player in the division.
His overall performances have earned the Nike-endorsed star a strong season rating of 7.39/10 from WhoScored, making him the sixth-highest rated player in the league.
Should Man United make a move to sign Goncalo Ramos this season?
Yes

No

With all of that in mind, it’s easy to see why United have had their eyes on the youngster and why PSG are reportedly now sniffing around him.
Bearing in mind how Wout Weghorst has only scored one goal in 11 appearances for Erik ten Hag’s side across all competitions prior to today’s league match against Liverpool and the fact that his loan spell is set to end in the summer, securing a deal for Ramos would be a smart move from the club.
Moving forward, in terms of potential incoming transfers, the Red Devils should definitely consider making an approach to Benfica to see if they’d be willing to negotiate a deal for their star striker or if it’d be a case of the only way United would be able to sign him is by triggering his hefty release clause.
